thrifted: lilac wrap dress

Just a little something I picked up at an op shop the other weekend. The sleeves are a bit too puffy and the length a bit frumpy, but the lilac colour was just too lovely to pass up. The little bow pattern also sealed the deal. All the photos I took ended up being kind of blurry and I didn't realise until after I uploaded them onto the computer. I hate when that happens.

  8. This is so pretty, I actually love the sleeves! Maybe you will find that once you shorten it the sleeves won't seem so pronounced? Anyway, lovely dress.

  9. Beautiful. As for the frumpy hem, nothing a pair of scissors and some stitching can't fix? :)

  10. It's so pretty! I think it would make a nice high-waisted skirt (with that pretty big bow included) if you're handy at sewing things :)

  14. I really love the sleeves, great find! Sometimes it's nice to own something a little different...I think you'll learn to love the sleeves, especially when the weather starts to cool down slightly. When I come back to Brisbane for Christmas...you and I definitely need to have some thrifting adventures xo

  19. Girl, you know for sure how to thrift!

  20. Very pretty. You could always let that seam out on the sleeve and crop it a bit. That might help the puffiness.

  23. aw, i dont know how different it looks on, but the sleeves don't really look frumpy! i tend to prefer a longer sleeve rather than a cap sleeve because i am self-conscious about my arms!

  33. Adorable piece you picked up. I can't wait to see how you style it.

And I totally feel your pain about the pictures - the screen on the camera always makes everything look deceivingly sharp and clear. :(

  34. @Erin and Caroline: definitely luck! I went in looking for something completely different (which I never found) and I ended up walking out with this dress!

@TheVelvetBow: I definitely think it's a matter of proportion. I played around with lengths and it definitely looks better short than mid-calf. Here's hoping!

@arnique: hopefully! Although there are some details which make shortening it a bit tricky, but I'll sort that out eventually. *fingers crossed*

@Francesca: If I can't work out something myself then I definitely think I'll take it to a tailor. It's just too pretty to not wear!

@Sally: I think so. Shortening it seems to be the go-er.

@Jaharn: for sure! I think I'm just not used to wearing this kind of silhouette. Maybe if I force myself... haha

@Kallie: brown and gold seem like excellent colour choices. Will have to keep that in mind!

@Stacy: That's a great idea too! Little butterfly sleeves would look ace.

@Lexi: I might have to do an outfit post with it on one day soon. Get a final verdict that way :)
