karla spetic aw2011: borderlands

Karla Spetic is fast becoming one of my favourite Australian designers. Her autumn/winter collection is awash with her signature draping, digital prints, and dreamy colour palettes. Whereas the last collection featured digital prints of the outback, this collection features more urban landscapes. I also like the fact that despite being an autumn/winter collection, the colour palette is predominantly based around soft pinks and bright blues. Vivid oranges and rich reds are added for good measure. The craftsmanship of the garments is also quite something. Can you say tan coat with oversized collar? The boxy blazers also work well against the soft draping of the dresses and skirts. I'll take one of everything, thanks.

  10. Indeed, I love how autumn/winter is for once not translated into a dark collection. That coat in the second image is my favorite...

  14. I love her use of colour. I wish I could have something of hers, like a digi print skirt from last season, but it's so damn expensive.
