'straya day outfit

Vintage silk shirt, altered overall dress, Sportsgirl hat & ring

Wore this to Australia Day festivities yesterday. BBQs and listening to the Triple J Hottest 100: easily the best way to spend the day. Anyway, this dress used to be a long pair of overalls back from when I was 11 or 12 (don't ask how I still have them because I seriously don't know). A few weeks ago I had the idea of transforming it into a dress. After I ripped all the seams and was left with a whole lot of unattached denim, I became stuck as to how to best turn it into a dress. Since my problem solving skills seem to be lacking, guess what my next step was? Taking it to mum, duh. She fixed it in no time. And put up with my nagging (thanks mum). I also wore something similar to Big Day Out (see photos below). It's the perfect dress for stomping about in. Plus, every time I wear it I feel like I'm a member of The Baby Sitters Club. That's a good thing, by the way.

  5. Hope you had a awesome Australia Day! I agree with Francesca... the #1 song was a disappointment. No one to blame really but the Australian public.

  6. @Thu: thanks! Sure did!

@Rachelous: ohhh I was obsessed haha

@Francesca and @pipalachic: Pretty sure the first half of the hottest 100 was my fave. Top 10 was disappointing, to say the least.

  7. I guess that's a great way to deal with nostalgia, fix them up so they're more appropriate to fit. I like this idea. though i think my mum may have given away or donated my old clothes. :(

  13. Your hat looks great!! I listened to the JJJ countdown too. As a few people mentioned- a little disappointed with #1, as much as I like Angus&Julia Stone...(I think it was played too much on the radio!).
